CFO Recordings Presents GIFT OF GAB LIVE IN BERKELEY!!!

Hip-hop is coming back to La Pena Cultural Center! CFO Recordings and La Pena’s 2nd Generation are proud to announce an all-ages concert on Saturday, April 14th, featuring Oakland-based Gift of Gab, the critically acclaimed emcee from Blackalicious. Across three classic Blackalicious LPs, two praised solo records and 2008′s star-studded collaboration the Mighty Underdogs, Gab has been a constant source of innovation and inspiration in hip-hop music. At this special East Bay appearance, Gab will be performing classic songs, as well as new material from his upcoming solo album, Next Logical Progression. Opening will be Berkeley-based emcee duo Work.Play, consisting of Spends Quality and Adam Fission, whose beats and rhymes bridge the gap between golden-era hip-hop and the future of the genre. Also joining will be deejay/producer Brycon with a set of original beats and choice records. The evening promises high-quality performances, progressive lyricism, and a positive atmosphere. You shouldn’t miss this!
It has been quite some time since La Pena was a key player in underground hip-hop in the East Bay. In the mid to late 90’s, they were host to many events that helped establish musical acts such as Living Legends, Goapele and more. La Pena’s 2nd Generation, a group of young activists including children of it’s original founders, has decided to build off of this rich history and again open their doors to events like this, helping usher in a new generation of hip-hop fans.
